Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I'm sure there must be good quality Hermione fic out there, but I must confess that my forays into HP fic have been limited to a handful of authors based on recs. I have nothing like a comprehensive grasp of the fandom - indeed, I haven't read the BNFs, for the most part. I'll ask around, though.

What's a BNF? t acronym clueless

Thanks! I'll look around on my own, too. I was just hoping someone here would know the way to the good stuff and spare me the wading through the badfic.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Big Name Fan.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

The HP fandom is scary.

So, you know, I tend to avoid it.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

No problem! ;o) (Presently working on a big old Draco-centric fic myself. I'm all over Redeemed!Draco)

Have you read Fearless Diva's Tissue of Silver, SA? She's still fiddling with rewrites that are really improving the pants off it prior to archiving, but the WIP in her LJ is cracking stuff.

What kind of scary? (she asks nervously, as she prepares to search Google)

Well, my forays into the fandom have been recs-based. But I know there's a lot of Snape/pupil stuff out there - up to and including Snape/Ginny. I assume most of it is when the pupils involved are of the age of conent (making it marginally less horrendous) but I had no wish to find out. Age gap stuff doesn't squick me necessarily (Mr Knightly, Colonel Brandon) and I fancy people who are more than twice my age, but Teacher/pupil (even 18 yr old pupil) just not good. But since a lot of the readers/writers in the fandom are themselves very young, they can oost after both Harry and Snape without twigging to the big scary wrongness to the degree that a card-carrying adult does.

As I said - I tend to stick with recs rather than go trawling.

brillig

How old would a fifth-year at a British boarding school be? I'm forgetting how old people are in the books. Plus, I was a clueless teenager, if htere was sex going on around me I had no idea--except for the obviously pregnant classmates, but they Weren't Talked About in my world.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

First years are eleven-twelve. Fifth years are thus fifteen-sixteen.

Have you read Fearless Diva's Tissue of Silver, SA?

Nope. Linky?

You sip / say it's your crazy / straw say it's you're crazy / as you bicycle your soul / with beauty in your basket

Here are the ToS LJ bits.

I can't stop tearing through them.
