Midnight Cowboy and Easy Rider are irrelevant.
I'm no slouch when it comes to uninformed opinions, but that exercise was way hard. Relatedly, the biggest problem with that list for me is sentimentality-- Star Wars? E.T.? It's A Wonderful Life? GWTW? Come on, people.
Oh, did anyone watch last night when Dustin Hoffman was weeping about his contribution to mankind in playing a woman and showing men how awesome unattractive women can be?
I'd be worried about that Kath, but *SWEDISH*!
Sean, if you feel so inclined, you can go to this page and listen to me caterwauling out-of-tune about Myrna Loy.

Don't make me get all neutral on your ass...
Thanks, I was looking at the original list, although my gaps were almost the same. I haven't seen:
Apocalypse Now
Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Midnight Cowboy
Intolerance
In the Heat of the Night
The Wild Bunch
Sunrise
Easy Rider
Sophie's Choice
That scene where Pippi has a game of chess with Death on the shore? Surprisingly action-packed and gripping.
Also, why is
The African Queen
on the list? It's really not that great. (I've seen it.)
bon, I will totally throw down about the many excellences of
It's A Wonderful Life
and why it absolutely belongs on the list.
However, on the sentimentality front, though I'm terribly fond of both
Tootsie
and
Toy Story,
they really don't belong on a list that doesn't have
Third Man
or
Manchurian.
Love 'em both, but they just don't.
eta: P-C, I love you, but you're wrong.
African Queen
really is that great.
but also for my secret silver screen girlfriend, Myrna Loy.
Good taste, my man. Have you ever read Cynthia Heimel's
Sex Tips for Girls?
She sets her compass by Ms. Loy's north star and notes that it is a handy question to ask yourself in any quandry, "What would Myrna Loy do in this situation?"
Myrna Loy Tidbits:
She grew up childhood friends with Gary Cooper but never got to be in a movie with him.
She was a red-head.
She was a very active Democrat, and William Powell was a very staunch Republican. They got on well and never talked about politics.

It's better than Forrest Gump!!!
I can't remember if I've seen Cabaret or not, but if I haven't, it's solely due to the creepiness of Joel Grey. Although the thing is, I don't know what I would have seen him in as a youth that would have given me this overriding impression of him as skeevy, if not Cabaret. It's a conundrum.
