As much as I love Keanu, I think it's a mistake to cast him in what will almost surely be an entirely CG role -- when he's well-cast, he's a compelling actor because of his physicality. I wholeheartedly support using him for the motion-capture, but for the love of all that's holy, hire someone else for the voice! (And really, they should just cast Doug Jones.)

Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I gotta pimp here-- Bug, a movie written by our friend Tracy Letts, is opening this weekend. [link] I saw it at a reading in development (with yummy Chris Meloni) and it is a very strong piece. I am going on Friday and am very excited. William Friedkin directed with well-reviewed performances by Ashley Judd and Harry Connick, Jr. Another friend who is an INCREDIBLE actor, Mike Shannon, will blow your minds in this. Mike is one of themost talented, intense actors I've ever seen, and a really thoughtful, sweet person as well. Mike and Tracy are both originally Chicago actors and Tracy wrote the part for him. Tracy is a member of Steppenwolf as a writer and actor and a great guy himself. The DH is working with Peter Bogdanovitch to produce Tracy's latest movie, so keep your fingers crossed that Bug does well, both for Tracy's sake and for his.

I'd forgotten about that, but it still redeems the Bog quite a bit in my eyes.
I just heard a radio ad for it the other day (and then saw a bench ad). It was the first I'd heard of it; it sounded like a dumb horror movie about killer bees. But it's...adapted from a stage play? I'm confused.
Yeah, they're selling it as a horror flick, but it's much more of a psychological cat-and-mouse game. Much more about paranoia and need than about the bugs--which may not even be real or not be the type of bugs you expect.....
Ooh. Sounds fun!
Bug was reviewed on NPR the other day with a rave review.
Ellen interviewed Harry Connick either late last week or earlier this week and she said that Bug was very good but creepy. Actually I think she said it about 4 times. So I'd call that a rave from her too!
Huh, I just saw a preview for it and thought it looked like your standard gross-out horror flick. Apparently marketing fell down on the job.
Robin, I have to freak out a cheery 17 year old. But I want to like the movie too. Is Bug it?
