That's not what making out sounds like -- unless I'm doing it wrong?

Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Signed, Raq n Robin

You two should be a rap duo like early Salt N Peppa.

WRT extremely disturbing movies, I couldn't watch Ichi the Killer and had to turn it off after about five minutes. It wasn't jurt that the first scene featured a graphically violent rape, but that another character watched it happen through a window while whacking off that pushed it into unwatchable territory for me. (appologies for lack of white font, I'm posting from my phone)

Well *that* killed the thread nicely.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Raq n Robin--too cool!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

You all are making me want to see 300. Which I didn't. But now you've gone and mentioned nudity and sex.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Sean, you'll be happy (for your own sake) to know that the opening was MILD compared to where ICHI went from there.

No, seriously. I still haven't watched the whole thing, but I figure the hot-oil/man-called-horse torture scene (against a male, but still yeeeeeech) would be enough to put most people off.

Sadly, the only reason I have to have not finished the movie was exhaustion, not disgust. But there are some meta reasons I needed to own and (some day) watch that movie.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

silent Lon Chaney movie

The Unknown! I love that movie! So twisted and it features young, HOTT Joan Crawford.

I think GF and I are going to see 300 in IMAX this weekend. I've never done the IMAX thing...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

You know who's cool? Jean Gabin.

Kind of like the French Bogart.

And you're thinking, "No! That would be Yves Montand. Or even Belmondo."

But I'm saying Jean Gabin.

Go watch Algiers.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Sometimes, David, you are incomprehensible.

I would say 25% of the time.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

That is totally comprehensible!

Jean Gabin! Dude, IMDB is but a fingertap away.

It's not my fault you're a French film ignoramous.
