A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. move out and draw fire

OK. We finally watched Harold and Kumar. At one point, the DH was lying face down on the floor in front of the TV, crying, he was laughing so hard. Kal Penn has got screen charisma and to spare.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I think I would have liked Harold and Kumar better if it had worked from an absolutely straight-faced production: like, if the raccoon stunt had been less obviously fake; if the cheetah thing had been replaced with something that could actually happen. I like slapstick as much as the next person, but I like my slapstick to look like it is happening without too obvious an authorial hand helping it along.

I admit, the likelihood of a coked-out Doogie Howser, looking for girls, showing up in rural New Jersey is not high; but being able to ride a cheetah, I am thinking no.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

At one point, the DH was lying face down on the floor in front of the TV, crying, he was laughing so hard.

Which point? Because the scene with Hold On does that to me every single time.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Nutty commenting on the realism of scenes involving cheetahs? The comedy practically writes itself.

I know, I know. But rewatching Holiday recently only reconfirmed my opinion.
