Kaylee: You're nice, too. Mal: No, I'm not. I'm a mean old man.

Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Eve Arden
Joan Cusack
does Dianne Wiest count? Because oh, how I adore her
Edward Everett Horton
Peter Lorre
Stephen Tobolowsky*
and possibly the biggest obscurity, but oh what a resumé, Joseph Schildkraut, who was just freakishly mesmerizing in the Norma Shearer Marie Antoinette, whom I went and chased down on IMDB because of that, and who it turned out had done, well, just about bloody everything ever.

*Small side note: while checking the spelling of Tobolowsky's name in the Groundhog Day listing, I stumbled on the small cool fact that Hynden Walch, who played the little blonde girl in the diner who was having second thoughts about getting married, has since gone on to do a metric shitload of voiceover and is the voice of Starfire on "Teen Titans." Heh.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

3 Faves: Jon Polito, Warren Oates, Patrick Warburton, Gary Cole. (bonus because both came to mind at the same time)

Tobolowsky, JZ? He's been entertainingly wormy in some roles, but stunk up Deadwood something fierce.

Because books.

I have four, mostly already mentioned:

Vincent Schiavelli
Brad Dourif
Harry Dean Stanton
Joan Cusack

I know there are more women, but names are escaping me at the moment. I'm famous for the spontaneous squee during a movie or a show -- "I know her! She's in everything! I love her!"

Always Anti-fascist!

But I did enjoy watching people threaten his life, Corwood. Madonn', how did I forget the salami-brain? Probably because I always say "Look, it's Crosetti." Or for that matter, "Was that Giardello?"

Amy - Dec 01, 2006 8:43:14 am PST #6099 of 10001
Because books.

Okay, two more women (I am blatantly disregarding the rule of three):

K Callan and Micole Mercurio

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Jane Addams
Lois Smith
Alice Drummond

Addams played the ex-wife in Sideways and has been in a lot of indie films or tiny roles in larger movies. Lois Smith is older and has been in EVERYTHING. She was the wise older woman Tom Cruise visits in Minority Report. Alice Drummond often plays older, slightly batty women.

Ann, that's a ferret.

I forgot Eve Arden! Amazing in movies from Mildred Pierce to Grease!

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Joan Blondell is in Grease , too!!
