Before American Psycho I would have picked Christian Bale, but he's moved firmly into leading man territory in recent years.
Hell, he's the lead in Empire of the Sun.
Ileanna Douglas
She's so great in Action.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

OK... I just thought if a person is not a Name, but has maybe been on L&O and H:LOTS and Oz that counted...does it not? But Lili was everybody's movie buddy for a while, I know she counts. Mercedes Ruehl, then(Whom I also think is awesome and doesn't work enough)
Mercedes Ruehl, then
Good call, and well beloved by the crew. In her breakthrough role on Married to the Mob the crew made up "Ruehl Rules" t-shirts. Incidentally, she's the lady cop who handcuffs James Remar to the bench in The Warriors.
I once wrote about Alien as being a character actor all-star team: Yaphet Kotto (there's your H:LotS bona fides), Harry Dean Stanton, Ian Holm, Veronica Cartwright (in the history of cinema, nobody freaks out like Veronica Cartwright).
David Straithran. Lili Taylor. Morgan Freeman.
Though MF as CA is debatable, in which case, replace him with F. Murray Abraham.
Here's Cuddles. He played the bartender in Casablanca, among other things.
Gotcha. He was in a ton of Warner Bros. movies in the 40s.
David Straithran.
Molly Dodd!
Lili Taylor.
Dogfight! (Okay, technically a lead there, but she was so good.)
Morgan Freeman.
Street Life!
Speaking of movies with great casts I've got King of New York on the TiVo right now. Talk about your serious pulp fictions. Plus, Christopher Walken, Laurence Fishburne (absolutely badass), David Caruso (one of his best movie roles, though his brief stint on TV as a NYC cop was and always will be his best role), Wesley Snipes, Giancarlo Esposito, Steve Buscemi...
I wonder if Walken's wife cast that movie. She's the top casting agent for the East Coast and does all the HBO series shot out there.
Kathy Bates
Carol Burnett
Joan Cusack
Veronica Cartwright (in the history of cinema, nobody freaks out like Veronica Cartwright).
Hitchcock trained her well.
Character actor, character actors.
Dick Miller
Timothy Carey
Brad Dourif
William Sanderson
