Xander: I still don't get why we came here to get info about a killer snot monster. Giles: Because it's a killer snot monster from outer space. I did not say that.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

E's seeing it on Monday, Sean, so I can report back. I hate the title, but otherwise have no preformed opinions of it.

ita, yes on CR being all tell and no show on Vesper's supposed smarts. That was very annoying.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Has anybody heard anything about the Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith's new movie? The trailers are breaking my heart.

It seemed nice enough, if too uplifting for my blood. But having seen the trailer I got the distinct impression that seeing the longer film would now be redundant.

Always Anti-fascist!

I am surprised at myself, considering my very favorite show in the world featured a kid's finger getting broken with a loud pop last week. But it is the holiday season and I'm close to the earth. I guess I can't be about murder and mayhem all the time. Most, maybe, but not all.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

They were all on Oprah the other day (Will and Jayden Smith, the real guy, his real son, etc.), and I was pissed off at how every single clip made me mist up. And they showed a ton of them, and many twice. I have no need to see the movie now. All the emotional manipulation, none of the movie theater experience!

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

The Pursuit of Happyness made me mist up this time, and We Are Marshall does it to me every time.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Has anybody heard anything about the Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith's new movie? The trailers are breaking my heart. It would o0nly be more broken if the movie turned out to suck.

The trailer I saw in the theatre was much better than the one I've been seeing on TV, and, yeah, it made me sort of want to see it.

But having seen the trailer I got the distinct impression that seeing the longer film would now be redundant.

But there's that, too.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

When that Keanu Reeves baseball movie (I'm pretty sure I have the actor and sport right) was in previews, I was really glad to be dating a musician, who explained in detail precisely how the music in the preview was making me misty. It's not our fault!!

precisely how the music in the preview was making me misty.

This was a BIG part of why I was getting misty at the Pursuit of Happyness trailer. I was aware of at least that much.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I gritted my teeth and hunched my shoulders and swore silently at every earnest, racial minority, devoted dad, just plain good second of that trailer.

It's really designed to stop you (read, ESPECIALLY ME) from thinking and just go to that (inherently perfectly reasonable) part of you that feels bad for people whose lives sucks for no apparent fault of their own.

I won't let it get me.

(read, ESPECIALLY ME)

Is it wrong that it makes me giggle when you react so contrarily to certain types of emotional manipulation, ita?
