Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

OMG, Daniel Radcliff would have to do a lot of screaming to bring CAPSLOCK Harry to life.

I was deeply annoyed by ASSCAP!Harry until I remembered what I was like at 15, and realized things could have been worse. There could have been emo poetry! Although I wouldn't mind if Harry had wanted to try the black eyeliner, miniskirt, and combat boots that went with the emo poetry, because I'm perverted like that.

Oooh. Was OotP the book where we get to meet Neville's parents at St. Mungo's? Oh, man. Poor Neville. I remember loving that section.

I reallyreallyreally hope that they include all (or at least most) of the lovely Neville bits in the movie. The actor (Matt Lewis--is that right?) did a great job in Goblet of Fire, and I hope the writer gives him a chance to expand on that in OotP.

Serial to add:

I HATED the Umbridge parts in the book

Two words--Blood. Quill. That's going to be damn creepy.

And I am so looking forward to the twins' exit! I do hope that they leave Grawp out of the movie, though--that'll take out a big chunk of story they don't need to adapt.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Whoops!

The Leaky Cauldron has a shot-by-shot breakdown of the trailer available, with corresponding text from the book (some of which I question).

Ann, that's a ferret.

I'll join that bandwagon. Though there's only so much they'll be able to do, even in a 3-hour movie. And the detentions are an obvious place to trim.

They could show it once instead of the numerous times it appears in the book. I think it is necessary to show how awful Umbridge is.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

There's a rumor on the Internets that Robert Altman just passed away. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Nevermind.
