Oh yeah! Thanks, Tom! It still looks awesome and action-packed, but I was a little thrown by the fact that Sandman apparently killed Uncle Ben?? I don't see how that makes any sense, and it seems to really go against the point of the origin story. I'm hoping it's all lies.
Went to Volver last night and loved it. I am a total sucker for all things Almodovar and I don't think this is his best film, but it was still FABULOUS. Penelope Cruz deserves all the oscar buzz and the rest of the cast is amazing.
ETA: saw the History Boys trailer last night and can't wait to see it! Glad to hear it's as good as I hoped it would be.
Robin, that's good news. I want to see Volver on the big screen. I don't think I've ever seen one of Almodovar's films first run and I'd really like to.
Volver is terrific. Agreed that it's not Almodovar's best, but mostly because it's so weirdly accessible and linear compared to what I expect from him -- if it were any other director, I'd have a completely different reaction to it, you know?
And Penelope Cruz has never looked better, ever. Yowza. (Though Pedro does admit that he padded her butt to make her look more voluptuous.)

Agreed on Penelope's hotness. GF said, "THAT was a butt pad??" Pretty nuts!
It is my dearest wish that she remain in Spain eating paella until her real butt looks that good. Hollywood is just plain bad for her.
Seriously. I wonder that she doesn't see herself on-screen in this film and go, "Dayumn! I look GOOD! Eff this Hollywood anorexic crap."
At least Salma Hayek appears to have said just that.
