Anybody planning to see Night Watch?
I saw it last year (before it was supposed to come out), and again just few weeks ago. It was much better the second time because I could actually follow the plot -- there's a TON of information in the opening scene, and it's almost impossible to process all of it because they just chuck you into the middle of this world and expect you to know how it works.
So my advice is to see it twice, because it will make so much more sense.
Also, there is a scene where a character is watching Buffy.
I saw
The Three Burials of Melqiades Estrada
last night. I highly recommend it. It had a very satisfying mixture of quiet heartfelt moments and dryly snarky scenes. I never knew where it was going and that made it a pleasure to watch. there is a little scenery chewing, but also some gems of performances--Melissa Leo was incredible.
Yesterday we saw It's a Great Feeling. Jack Carson and Dennis Morgan (think a low-rent Hope and Crosby) try to make a movie and woo Doris Day. Tons of cameos by WB stars of the '40s, headed by Joan Crawford and Edward G. Robinson, worthy moments from Danny Kaye, Jane Wyman, Gary Cooper, and the list goes on and on. Right down to the twist ending.
Great light musical comedy entertainment for those rough days when all you want is an hour and a half of mindless entertainment.
I've yet to see Melissa Leo in anything where she didn't make me say "Who's that?"
Although I am, of course, a giant Kay Howard fangirl so may be completely biased.
Nightbreed is the Russian vampire movie that's coming out, right? I'm dying to see that. Will it be out on DVD?
Honestly. You people are the reason my Netflix queue is up to 313.

It's the first part in a trilogy, the second of which, I hear, will be released in America when the first part comes out on DVD. The third part is going to be filmed in English.
Night Watch is what I meant. Still asleep.

I can't wait to see this. Well, I'll HAVE to wait (probably for DVD). But I can't believe Tommy Lee Jones hasn't tried to direct before this.
I fulfilled my pre-Oscar checklist obligation by seeing Mrs. Henderson Presents this evening. Very enjoyable, and I hope Judi Dench can win herself another Academy Award at this late stage in the game.
