Could just be a hoax, though. I fake some headaches, everyone gets used to poor helpless Spike. Then one day, no warning, I snap a spine, bend a head back, drain 'em dry. Brilliant.

Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Where is Umbridge's Alice band, damnit?! She must have an Alice band, preferably white with a bow.

Well, instead she has a Thatcheresque helmet-head.

True! Also, I guess they couldn't get her as toad-like as she is in the books.

Compassionately intolerant

This was my thought. She doesn't look toad-enough or mean-enough by half. Now, a lot can be done with inflection and expression. I'll reserve judgemnt, but I'm afraid this is not My!Delores.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I think Imelda Staunton can act the toadiness so well that we'll actually see it. She's incredible.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

So, Children of Men is one of the best films of the year.

HELLs yeah. I need to see it again, like, NOW, and it's not out (in the States) until December. Stoopid non-now release date.

You reach a tipping point in movies when the critical mass of the non-sense making is achieved and you start to question even the things that you'd thought were basic assumptions at the beginning of the movie.

Seriously, it needs to be watched twice. Because there's a TON of information thrown at you in the first ten minutes, which is impossible to pay attention to the first time around. (Okay, so the Gloom never actually makes sense, because it's defined about twelve different contradictory ways during the course of the film. But most of the plot resolves much more sharply on rewatch.)

(And um, hi! I'm back from Europe! I have fifteen bajillion posts to catch up on!)
