Why did I see the words "Purple Noon" and think I was seeing "Purple Rain"? Although, that would be a good movie to see with French dubbing.
Can anyone translate "Darling Nikki" into French?

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"Nicquie, Cherie"
So, she was just kissing that magazine in French?
Note: "niquer" also means "to fuck". Interesting.
This thread makes me feel so ignorant.
second that emotion, bunky. But I console myself that that is how we learn. Sometimes.
But, see, I have, at my feet, a copy of 'The Dark' and a real inviting blanket. And I'll probably pick the simpler pleasure. And a fresh dose of mild self-loathing.
Ah, *mild* self-loathing. Amateur. I've only seen a few foreign films that weren't Aussie or English, though. But there have been some...I guess I'm finally learning to cope with posting with people smarter than I am.
I've only seen a few foreign movies, and none of the French classics talked about upthread. I've been meaning to see The Bicycle Thief (Italian postwar movie), as well as 400 Blows, which I've heard is just gutwrenching. My favorite foreign movie has to be M, though--Peter Lorre is mesmerizing as the serial child killer.

I can't even excel at that. I'm off to hang out at Aint It Cool.
I have seen, say, The 400 Blows and Band of Outsiders and stuff but my favourite Chabrol? Yeah, no.
