Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

ETA: Smaug had the best dragon-voice, ever, I think.

Richard Boone, IIRC, and, yeah, a great voice (John Huston's Gandalf wasn't bad either).

So far, only she and Sigourney Weaver have been able to make me sit through a movie full of Peter MacNicol's tics.

Soon, the city will be mine and Vigo's... mainly Vigo's.

I liked the Dragonheart dragon. I like Peter MacNicol, too.

...do I have to turn in my Buffista card now?

Turn in your Buffista card for having a different opinion? I think not, dearest Bev.

Compassionately intolerant

I like Peter MacNicol, too.

If one has to turn in one's Buffista card for loving the Biscuit...um...I'll be really, really bummed. Hides card under bum...lalalala...

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I haven't seen Dragonslayer, yet. Is that the TV movie with Patrick Swayze and whoever? He's the only one that stood out from the ads for it. I'm still waiting for the sequel to Dirty Dancing.

So, speaking of dragons...

Now tagless for your comfort.

Is that the TV movie with Patrick Swayze and whoever? He's the only one that stood out from the ads for it.

That's Dragonsword. I confess, the ads with James Purefoy ("You're the only one in England wearing dragon skin shoes!") attracted me. But I watched the first five minutes and when I saw Patrick Swayze, I nearly choked, I was laughing so hard. I had to give up.

Dragon Slayer is a classic, though. One of the first fantasy films that caught my attention in the early 80's. I think it has a fantastic plot and great acting. And the dragon kicked ass.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The dragon discussion was not coincidental...

I skimmed, I admit it!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Preview for Jesus Camp

A documentary. Kinda scary.

Holy crap.
