Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Compassionately intolerant

Some of them are an admission post-completion of suckage.

Prophecy 3 & 4.

Now, the fact is, I loved them...but I'm bent that way.

Still, with no Walken, the point was lost like a lamb in a wolf den...BUT...shirtless Jason Scott Lee...so there's that.

The commentaries pretty much confess that the film makers were just doing it for a lark. They filmed both together and, with hope, or perhaps delusion, included a cliffhanger at the end of 5.

With a wobbly lack of shame, I admit that I'd rent 6 if it existed.

Third in a series better than the first two: Evil Dead II? (The one where Bruce Campbell time travels back to fight zombies et al) Have I got the title right?

Evil Dead III, a.k.a. Army of Darkness. Evil Dead II was still made of awesome, though.

Army of Darkness, which would have been EVIL DEAD 3 (it SHOULD have been called Med-Evil Dead ). But I think you'd get arguments from some (like me) that it was better than 2.

Ha! and Sean on x-post.

move out and draw fire

Poltergeist 2. Stanky.

ETA:

And once I've started, the hits keep coming!

I have to say the Matrix sequels were pointless. The original didn't need a sequel, and they were unpleasant. At least the second was; I skipped the third.

Legally Blond 2

Aliens 3 and (sorry Joss) 4 were pointless.

Does Once Upon a Time in Mexico count as the third movie or a second movie? Since El Mariachi and Desperado were basically the same movie. Not that it applies to this topic, just occured to me to wonder.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I am in this corner.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

The Matrix and Highlander sequels (barring Highlander the series) are pretty high on my list, not just because of the badness, but because they truly are pointless.

I'm really leary of the Boondock Saints sequel that's supposedly in the works, as again I don't know that the story can be expanded upon in any way that's going to be satisfying.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....there there, little Matrix sequels. Pay no attention to the crazy people who don't love you...they just don't understand you like I do...
