Argh.
An hour or so ago, I worked on "fixing" my car's radiator leak, where you put in some liquid and pellets and then let the car run for a half hour to let the pellets melt and find the hole.
Then after my kitchen timer dinged, I ran upstairs to get changed because I was going to drive somewhere, since the car was warmed up.
Was.
I just spent the last 3/4 hour or so tending to a deep cut in my heel from an errant piece of broken glass from my light fixture in my bedroom. I thought I had gotten all of it six weeks ago, but this half-inch piece came out from hiding and got me as I was pulling on my jeans.
It's only a 3/8 inch gash, but I
bled like a stick pig,

I spent a lot of time with alcohol and leftover gauze and bandages and "sponges" (from my old leg wound from 2 years ago) and cleaned it up. Then i used a clean minipad, then put a thick maxipad on top of that. then covered it all with an ACE bandage.
The question is, did I do enough so I don't really need to go to the clinic? I don't have medical for another 90 days or so.
I mean, if I keep it clean, and keep dressing it, I should be okay. My only concern now is that i might not be up to date on my tetnus booster.
Feh.
Accents on a stock car thing that I wasn't watching because I don't do that.
The

ones? Yep.
Daniel, if it doesn't get warm and puffy (thereby screaming infection) I would think that you are okay. Keep it clean, dressed loosely and don't use ointments containing neomyicin for days in a row. Bacitracin is okay for up to a week I think. If it heals and doesn't show signs of infection, I would say you are okay. Then again? I am not known for my pristine upkeep of my body so grains of salt and all.
Ouch! It really depends on if it seals up quickly. Keep it closed and if it stops bleeding it should be ok, but ouchy. The heel hurts for a long time.
From what my docs tell me, tetanus is rare these days. They didn't even give Bobby a shot when he planted a drywall screw in his foot playing on a construction site. They numbed it and cut it out and told me to dab some antibiotic ointment on it.
I know the diabetes complicates healing so watch it closely!!

Cass, I don't believe you.
Daniel, is there any diabetes concern here? Or might that only affect healing?
And I
think
teatnus worries only come in with metal.
And I am off to visit my family on the other coast of Florida so they can pamper me and feed me cake and stuff. (It's not the b'day yet, so save the wishes for Wednesday)
See ya in the new thread.
Daniel, that's the kind of thing that it would never occur to me to take to a doctor (which is to say, like Cass, I think it just proves that my self-care is lousy). In any case, even with diabetes, I think you can -- at the very least -- keep an eye on it for a few days. It sounds like you cleaned and treated it as well as any doctor would, so just be mindful of it, and you should be fine. And -- this is VERY important -- you should
use it as an excuse to get Andi to take care of you.
Got that last part? It's KEY.
Utterly pointless post before the thread runs out.
I might get a 3-licious number out of it.
Happy travels and cake!
I don't believe you.
Okay, *this* is what you fear I am lying to you about? I am horrified I used to be able to tell you exactly where someone was from about three words into the interview.
I have achieved crock pot cream of mushroom soup. So freaking good. And easy. A crock pot and a stick blender at the end - the whole thing probably took about five minutes of work total.

Nah, end of March and then beginning of April for the American series and F1 is only three weeks away. It's getting close, bay-bee.
And you can try just a little taste of Nascar while you wait. First race is free...
