Spike's Bitches 28: For the Safety of Puppies...and Christmas!

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Because books.

Whoo hoo! Step away from the board for a minute (okay, two hours) and a baby is born! Welcome to the planet, Olivia Rose! Congratulations Cash and DH and Owen!

Get out! Where did you live in Wilmington? We're probably related! (oh, and, AmyLiz, you're the one who is also related to Daniel Boone like I'm supposed to be, right? Maybe we're double-related!)

Um, wow, I don't even know. My parents grew up on Tatnall Street and went to P.S. DuPont High School, but we moved to Newark when I was about a year old. But I know where the Charcoal Pit is! And yeah, I'm the Daniel Boone person, too! Weird. We probably *are* related.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Missouri has some great town names.

Those names rock. I had a linguist friend who had an index card file of odd town names. There were some good 'uns.

There was an article in the SF Comical recently on our sprawl problems but I can't find it now. Suffice it to say that some idiot developer is building a housing development 6 feet below sea level in the Sacramento Valley. That's how bad things are. That after Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans, a developer would still think that's a good idea. Mo' money, mo' money, mo' money.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Congratulations Cashmere! I like the name.

Not really. The Philly burbs are friendly, and I made lots of friends when I lived there. Lots of waving and smiling, and what have you.

Bec made lots of very good friends there. But then, she always does. Anyway, I didn't find the people terribly unfriendly. They were friendlier than I was, in all probability. And they kept inviting me to sit on their juries! Wasn't that welcoming of them?

The cost of living difference is huge. If I were in Aimee and Joe's situation (wee one and all), I would want a home of my own and frankly California is just beyond crazy about housing prices.

Ayup. I mean, by Australian standards I was paying a lot, but Philly was far cheaper than places like NYC, SF and LA.

Incidentally, were I to move back to America, I think the places I'd put at the top of the list are Chicago and San Diego.

Current mayor of Philadelphia was booed at the opening of the Phillies new stadium.

Hee. That seems fair to me.

Incidentally, for his birthday last year I got my nephew an official Eagles Superbowl jersey. He's completely rapt with it.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

E me and see if there's any way we can hook up?
Absolutely. You've got E.

Mostly lurking...

Patiently awaiting pics of vw after her salon day.

You’re gonna have to wait a little longer. I have to wait till Emily gets home from class. I SUCK at taking pictures of myself.

Congratulations Cashmere! Yay for Olivia! And I agree…such a lovely name.

Lots of ~ma for Joe and Aimee.

I’m feeling tired and frustrated. I should want to go out tonight, but I don’t. I think I might cancel my plans. Ugh.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Congrats Cahmere!

Lots of whatever sort of ~ma is required for MM and Aimee.

In mememe news, I may have gotten an internship. It's not quite sure yet, but it's looking pretty good. And it looks like a really interesting job. Fingers crossed until I know for sure.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Someone tell my brain to stop.

I've been earwormed with "Love the one you're with."

That wasn't the real problem.

The real problem started when the brain started to impose the Ewok "jub jub" song into the mix.

And there's a rose in a fisted glove
And the eagle flies with the dove
And if you can't be with the one
You love, honey
Love the one you're with
jub nub
Love the one you're with
jub nub
Love the one you're with
doo doot doo doot dootdoot doodoot
jub nub

I'll get right on that Daniel, once I regain the power of speech.

I'm getting the pig!

vw, what plans are you thinking of canceling? Can you change the plans to something simple?

Internship ~ma to you, Hil.

Wheee! Welcome to the world, Olivia Rose. You have an incredibly handsome big brother to show you the ropes and a beautiful, caring mommy and (although I've never met him) a wonderful daddy. I can't imagine your mommy choosing him if he wasn't great all on his own. You kinda hit the jackpot, little one.

Everything to work out for the best ~ma to the Miracleborns!

It might be hard to tell but I have my crankypants on right now. Stupid re-fi closing was today. Hardly any of it went the way it was supposed to and I truly dislike surprises when it comes to money. My money, especially.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

la la la la She always stood at the back of the line, a smile beneath her nose I can't hear you
