'The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco'

Spike's Bitches 28: For the Safety of Puppies...and Christmas!

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Yesterday someone was going on and on and on about ECT being a torture device and people receiving it against their will. Blah, blah, blah. My prof tried to correct him, but the guy just wouldn't drop it.

Were you in my Abnormal Psych class? I had the same thing happen to me on Tuesday. I had this little bitca next to me going on and on about how she would never do that. I wanted to smack her. Luckily my professor smacked her down for me.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Beej, how could you possibly know him well just by reading stuff on the internet? What sort of sources were you reading? A blog? Discussion boards? Articles? Myspace? Friendster?

Give the guy a shot face to face. It's only fair.

Trust my rage

vw, if you are comfortable, I would warn. Your prof may be able to "direct" the conversation in ways that might help you avoid feeling like you are going to cluestick someone over the head. Also, I'd imagine there might be some topics that might make you feel a bit uncomfortable and it might be nice if your prof knows this (like if writing a paper or attending a lecture is particularly hard or something).

Of course, you feeling comfortable with it is the most important thing.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

The first few eps House himself is a mixture of mean and snark, after that it's more hard core snark than mean.

Oh, I've watched the first season in as close to a marathon as Netflix would allow me.

I'm getting the pig!

vw - I'm feeling a little cruel this morning so my suggestion is not to warn anyone. You don't have to completely lose it to get your point across to the uninformed that (WHY?) feel the need to preach.

BTW - Thanks to you all for the non-smoking support.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

things went pretty well in the review, and I got props, and the issues at hand were discussed pretty calmly and fairly, and I think I got some of my points across without being defensive or obnoxious. So, yay.

thanks for the ~ma!

Compassionately intolerant

Just sharing these thoughts here has helped me to really calm down.

ita, through a series of links, I found his homepage, resume, interests, etc. None negative at all, just very, very serious. Which pinged my fears that really have nothing to do with him. I want warmth and humor and connectedness. I'm really over dealing with fussy fellas. My life alone is too great to have to 'work' hard with someone new.

But yeah. I'm giving him more than a shot. It'll be good for me, no matter what happens.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Yesterday someone was going on and on and on about ECT being a torture device

Interesting thing I found out the other day. Ben Franklin cured at least one person who had seisures using electric shocks, and apparently treated others. I don't recall encountering that bit of information before.

It was probably a low voltage, considering the period.
