I'm quoting from memory, so I doubt she used that phrase. Being from the South, it is a phrase I do use, though, so it's probably my wording and not her's.

That NYT article refers to someone showing off her pretty slips with slit skirts. It's going to take a lot to make me think a visible slip under a skirt is anything but someone who can't put an outfit together. I'm still not accepting that visible bra straps is anything but tacky.
