Daniel, maybe you can get the employee who actually said the phrase to back you up that you weren't harassing, but that in fact, the woman who filed the complaint had been asking you what the derogatory name for the nuts was?

Daniel, this does merit some investigation. Which, you know, is hard to think of, more less do, when you're reeling from being fired. But I would ask some questions, certainly.

juliana, what's been said about knowing *you* and wishing *you* well. But I do believe that there must be many things worth loving about him, or you never would have.
I've been thinking about possibilities.
It's possible I remarked that something they said "reminded me of that old nickname" for the brazil nut. If I said "you" instead of "you've" and she didn't hear the "ded," or I misspoke, it makes a bit more sense in regard to our misunderstanding. "you've reminded me of" and "You remind me of" sound a lot alike.
So I can see a possible inception of the misunderstanding. Not realizing it was not heard/said right, it made it hard for me to understand her insistance.
OTOH? It does not excuse the claim that I used the word, nor the lack of trying to clear it up.
That's the clearest interpretation of the events I can come up with.
I'm starting to get in a funk.

Daniel, I'm so sorry. It's terribly unfortunate that they didn't feel like hearing your side of the story would be the next course of action. The whole situation sounds very confusing.
Beverly, dearest, so sorry to hear about StE's lay off. He's had such a rough time of it lately and the yo-yo needs to stop, especially if this is/was the same company that lured him away from his previous company.
Hoping that all those forced to work today were/are let out early and are able to spend time doing something they truly enjoy.
