They are doing a HUGE concrete pour today at my construction site (note, the picture has not been updated since I last linked it.) I have called home to see if CJ wants to come hang with me and watch. They have concrete trucks lined up around the block waiting for their turn at the pumper. This is gonna be an all day thing - wonderfully distracting.
We are up to at least 10 people here now.

The embassy technically remained open until 5:00, but the DCM said yesterday "Non-essential personnel may be dismissed at 1:00, and essential personnel may depart if they've addressed all business." My DH replied "By, for example, forwarding my work phone to home?" which got a general laugh.
Today at 2:00 he looked up from his desk and realized he was the last person in the building.
I went and picked him up, and we swung by the store to stockpile food for the holiday. It was actually kind of festive, with lights everywhere, and a live band playing Christmas music in the shopping arcade. Turkeys were about $40 each, so we will not be having turkey, but otherwise it looks set to be a nice holiday.
