If the friend isn't aware of you having extra tickets, I don't think it's tacky - but you never know who you'll end up sitting next to when you sell them on Ebay.
Hell, you never know who you'll end up sitting next to anyway. My dilemma is more that I have three good friends and two tickets. I thougth about telling them to fight it out, but I know that one of them is having some money issues right now (sick cat, crazy vet bills), and I know that she would go if she could, but would now have to bail for cash. And I can't afford to just give her the ticket.
