I'm all up in the law now, but damn it feels good to get my violence on.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Oh yeah. After he beat the shit out of Dr Young McDreamy last week?

So, I was watching an episode of House that seemed to me to contain a bit of Magical Negro. Unless there's a separate category for Magical Jazz Musician, but I think there's generally crossover. It's funny how things I wouldn't really have noticed before stand out so strikingly, like Mary Sues.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

In show time it was further back. I just thought he looked...wrong, somehow. Like there might have been some other explanation.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

The idea that
I tried to suspend my belief but eventually just had to fire it. Not that it helped.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Interesting. House usually learns "a lesson" from his patients, so I'm not sure it applies in this case. Now, he often dismisses the lesson, but it's there nonetheless.

My front door is open with the screen in place. Why did the UPS guy just ring my (obnoxious) doorbell, knock on the wood parts and loudly yell "hello" into my house all in a span of seconds? Rude.

But he brought me stuff so I didn't rip his head off.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

ER: With the caveat that I missed last night, Dr. McDreamy slept with his 14 year old daughter and (so far as he knows) gave her STDs. I don't think his actions there can necessarily be used as evidence of being violent in general.

How far back, ita? I haven't been watching.

That's true. And there usually is someone -- patient or family of patient -- who gives some trenchant insight into House's battered soul. So maybe this is just more of the same. I suppose it's really the Mortality Giving You Insight Into What's Really Important theme.
