Good thing about lively Buffista board: Many posts to read
Bad thing about lively Buffista board: Many more posts than I can read and respond to while I'm at work.
My gig went reasonably well last night. Audience seemed to like things and about 5 different people came up to compliment me. I'm my own worst critic, though, and am already wondering what I could have done differently to give the headliner more of a run for his money.
I'm not much of a drinker but I usually have just enough Dutch courage to get my inhibitions to a manageable level. Last night the Irish coffee wasn't working as well as I'd have liked so I opted for a shot of straight Irish whiskey. Normally I have drinks like a rum & coke. It's odd, but I find myself kinda craving an Irish whiskey right now. I don't know what that's about.
3 hours 'til I get out of here. I'm tired and bored and I know I wouldn't be these things if my job were more rewarding and challenging.
Oh, and Colbert is mine.
Argh! Fuck! Goddamn mikta-squeezing back button. I was typing a post there!
Huh. Just found out the actor I was dating around the holidays last year (Dec 2004, I mean) is back in town with a role in Corpus Christi. Germane to the current discussion, he's the one that's a bearded Steven Colbert lookalike.
So the field placement woman finally called me to say they were still working on it, no problem, they'd let me know when things were finalized, I would almost certainly be going to Randolph. Which is just as far away from the city (and thus from public transportation) as the last place I nixed because I didn't have a car. Apparently the note that I needed someplace on the T didn't get very far last time. So they'll try and find another school. I mean, I could take the commuter rail -- it's only about a mile from the station -- but it is, let us say, not an ideal situation.
Emily, that is so frustrating! When are you supposed to start? I know the student teachers at my uni start next week and all placements were supposed to be finalized before Christmas.
Erinaceous so has to get herself on the Colbert Report.
Erinaceous so has to get herself on the Colbert Report.
She totally should!! She even mentioned him in her NPR piece about new words a couple of weeks ago.
I could so make that happen, I bet. I would love to play erinaceous' publicist on the phone with the Colbert Report.
When are you supposed to start?
Jan. 23rd. And they sent me an email in December saying, ooh, we haven't gotten your letter of agreement yet! Get that in! Uh, yeah, hi. I've been wondering if part of the problem is how many colleges there are in the area, all spitting out education students needing placements.
