I think if my cat ever encountered a mouse she'd run and hide under the bed. Heck, the few times she's encountered bugs she did the crouch-and-wiggle part of things but forgot the pounce-and-kill part.

Hee. Your guys are reminding me of my sister's recent incident when the cat came in with a chipmunk. Unharmed. Which she then let go, leading to my sister and the cat spending a good hour chasing it around and trying to trap it. With slightly different purposes in mind, I think.

My former roommates once bought a feeder mouse to give to their cats. The smart one looked at us as if to say "you don't really expect me to go to the effort of killing that when there are chicken wings in the trash with more meat on them?" and the dumb one started grooming it.
