Gah. I have to leave to catch my Amtrak. They're gonna keep looking, and I'll call back later.
Now I just need good luck that my train won't be late and that the 21 year old car will make it back OK.

No, Ginger ale is not diet. It's also one of the few sodas I can drink. All the others are too carbonated and sweet.
Good luck, tommyrot!
Just finished emptying the disks I found in one of my drawers. Found homework from my very first computer science class.
What's next? Ooh, another desk drawer!
Verizon kept trying to charge my expired credit card for 2 months, and instead of sending me a polite "Your credit card has expired" notice, they waited until 2 months had gone by and sent me a "WE WILL TURN YOUR PHONE OFF IF YOU DO NOT PAY!" notice instead. Very rude.
I had Time Warner do the dame to me, except they did turn off my cable. FYI.
Am trying to decide if I should work late, or work tomorrow. I think I have to work tomorrow, as I don't think I can type any more pages today.
Then my phone won't go off if the power or cable goes out.
That's my concern too. Plus, I cringe at the thought of giving Comcast an even bigger chunk of my paycheck.
I'm actually looking at switching back to SBC for my phone, because right now they're offering a me a much, much better deal than I'm getting with MCI. Granted, it's only for 12 months, but even if they switch back to MCI-level prices after the year is up, that's still a good deal of money saved. I just need to make the call when their office is actually open.
Aaaaaand, after fifteen minutes on hold with TracFone, and another ten minutes trying to decipher my customer service representative's accent while she asked me to stay on the line until their computer system started working again, I've just been told to call back in half an hour. So I can be put on hold for another twenty minutes, no doubt. This is after I tried to do this same thing yesterday and was disconnected three times before I gave up. Fuck it, it can wait until Monday.
(In case anyone was wondering, I would not recommend TracFone as a phone service provider. Argh.)
Good luck, tommyrot.
Green Room strikes me as a dive from the outside. Yes/no?
Not really. Since it's primarily a pool hall and not a bar at all (and so people are doing something rather than just sitting and drinking), it lacks the overall air of alcoholic desperation that you find at, say, the Down Under. Plus, there are high school kids hanging out after school. And a Bull Durham connection. OTOH, the rest rooms are dive all the way. t shudder
also, I want the "no guns, knives, or farm instruments" sign from Beth's dive.
also also, I'm thinking hard about getting rid of the car (Stephen would keep his, as he has much more of a commute than I do) and getting a scooter. Any experiences?
I'm obsessed with making sure that I have phone service in the event of a power outage. It's why I have a cheapy non-cordless phone tucked awkwardly on my bookshelf. Just in case.

Segway!
Vespa! And a driving scarf.
