Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

But they don't tell you which is which. See, either you click on the button that's the colour of the word, or you click on the button that doesn't say the same as the word does. Shows...not so much.

So today was all hot and windy. Yet, still not getting the hang of the Santa Ana. Give me a few weeks and I forget this stuff all over again.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I found a toy mouse in my shoe this morning. This evening it was in a food dish. Is it being gifted, or just carelessly misplaced?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I had a cat who used to regularly bathe his toys, aurelia. Either that, or he was trying for some aesthetic rearrangement.

Devi drowns her toys with some regularity.

Dad has been coffeed and dropped off to check in at his hotel. I expect to see him for a bit more before 1 and then he disappears into the land of meetings for the next 6 days, so I won't see him at all. Odd. But had a nice visit and he took me out to dinner and maybe lunch today.

Also, I'd like to state for the record that someone in an office near me needs to ANSWER THEIR GODDAMNED CELL. Or turn it off. Sheesh.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It's fun when you can see people without it being A Visit To You, I think. My mom used to come here on business semi-regularly, and it was nice to just have lunch or whatever.

Hooray for Friday! Man, working is hard. Good thing I haven't actually worked a five-day week yet, and next week I'm on vacation. Too bad I might end up working over the weekend because people can't seem to get back to me, and the deadlines are still there.

I wish it were more acceptable to say "But word around the family says you're herding Moroccan oil goats--what do you mean you're in med school in New York?"

Because I've finally reconnected with some family I haven't spoken to forever, and I'm disappointed with the mundanity their lives are compared to the uninformed rumour that was racing around. I almost don't want to clear them up.

I can't imagine my parents ever being in the same city as me and staying in a hotel. It's just not Our Way, for good or ill.

What is even happening?

I wish it were more acceptable to say "But word around the family says you're herding Moroccan oil goats--what do you mean you're in med school in New York?"

I think you have to say that sort of thing in person, in a somewhat artificially high voice, rather wryly, with a slight eyeroll that still manages to convey affection for the family at large.

I'd be hanged if I tried it.

That's hilarious.

My mom used to stay with me when she came down for work sometimes, but usually work would pay for the hotel. And now I have the cat, so she never stays over.

Well, under most circumstances he'd stay with me while in town (he leaves for a conference in DC on sunday) but this is 3 days of back-to-back planning meetings in which even dinner and breakfast are working meetings. It makes more sense for him to stay in the hotel where the meetings are being held than schlep 20 minutes back and forth to my place at ungodly hours. Even some locals are staying in the hotel.
