Shit's all sorts of different now.

THere was a 17 year old wife. That makes me shudder a bit.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Which means it's more common a name than I thought, and I probably don't know these people. Which is a relief, 'cause even for uber-Christian polygamists, they seem a little off.

I went back to the main page hoping there'd be a parallel "Families looking for husbands" listing, but no dice.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

No, but did you see the link that explains how polygamy benefits women?

It is for laugh making.

The really skeevy part about that family is that all of the wives have names of women in my family. It's like he's married to all of my aunts.

Yes. It reads like a passage from Time Enough For Love. (Disclaimer: Which was my favorite book as a teenager. Granted, there were multiple husbands in that one as well as wives.)

[eta: Even better is the "Polygamy 101" page where they explain that those pesky little dictionary definitions for words like "polygamy" aren't going to apply, because here's what they really mean. ]

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I think around point #18 he slipped from telling other people not to be assholes into revealing himself as one. Last time I checked, the top priority of dining out with friends and family wasn't tailoring every word and deed to make sure your waiter is enjoying his evening.

I thought it was around point two or three myself.
