Trust me

To whom, exactly?

In fact things started getting much better

That's what Allyson calls the wheel of karma, I guess.

The evil eye charm is for ita

She got one, too, because she took me to krav. Hers must be broken.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

holding out on me why?

My mom just recently got the charms, I saw them when I was there 3 weeks ago but forgot to bring them home. I will get them this weekend and send one out to you. I am not sure where they are from. Greece maybe? Turkey?

I just used the phrase "pasty white ass of evil." in an IM with a co-worker. It might be my new favorite thing.

Hey everyone!

Who wants to help me decide if I want to go to Argentina or the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation this summer? Both would be library-school-related (the Argentina trip would be through school; the Pine Ridge thing would count as internship credit, I think) and wicked cool. I think Argentina would cost more.

Kate! Is your semester all over? When does your time off start?

Argentina or the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation

What's the weather like in both of them in the summer? How much more will Argentina cost? Which of them is less like somewhere you've already been to? When are you coming to Israel?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Argentina.

Totally.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Short workweek, short workweek, short workweek. Gotta focus on that.

What is this "short workweek" thing of which you speak?

Signed,

Still on the project from hell.

Frank, I'm sorry. Does the project have a deadline?

Is your semester all over?

Yes!

When does your time off start?

It already has! My last day of work was last Friday, and my last class was Saturday morning.

What's the weather like in both of them in the summer? How much more will Argentina cost? Which of them is less like somewhere you've already been to?

All good questions. It will be winter in Argentina, so probably chilly; I don't know how cold it gets. I should check out winter weather stats. I'm betting South Dakota (where the Pine Ridge Reservation is) will be hot and dry. Argentina will be a three-week trip for somewhere in the vicinity of $1,500, and will include classes at the University of Buenos Aires, a home stay with a local family, and the chance to practice my Spanish. The Reservation is sort of an unknown quantity at the moment in terms of how much it will cost (or whether they may actually pay me a little? probably not, though) and what kind of time commitment they want. They're looking for someone to come in and get their library into shape and start reading programs for the kids there, and I think they'd like someone who can come out there as often as possible, so for school vacations and such.

I've never been to Argentina; I have been to South America (Ecuador), but I was 11 at the time and don't remember much about it--plus the two countries are really different. So that would be a totally new experience. But I've also never spent any time on an Indian reservation, and the idea is appealing as well.

When are you coming to Israel?

As soon as I can! It's definitely near the top of my list.

Art Crawl!!!

Timelies everyone!

I have to admit that Nip/Tuck didn't have the closure that I wanted but it also didn't leave us hanging the way it did last year either.

Did you notice that they are already promo-ing Rescue Me?

I must admit that there are places that I could walk to but don't because it would be a giant pain in the butt - for example - the grocery store, which is theoretically less than 5 miles away from me -- but there is no good way to get there. Plus, walking home from there with a ton of groceries? Giant PITA.

At least our buses come once an hour.

Kate, not ignoring you - I just have to run out.

Have a good rest-of-the-day, everybody!
