Hi Nilly! You're so sweet.

I'm fine with talking about it online. I must confess that I am not looking forward to having the Disney convo over and over again during the family Christmas festivities.

I know you don't feel this way, but have you considered bursting into tears and running from the room the first time the subject comes up?

In my family, that would ensure it never came up again.

Then my mother would start crying for real and I couldn't stand the guilt.

Then my mother would start crying for real and I couldn't stand the guilt.

That would be a problem.

Bummer.

I must confess that I am not looking forward to having the Disney convo over and over again during the family Christmas festivities.

I would consider it refreshing if anybody in a family gathering talked to me about anything that isn't my ongoing being-single (how do you say that in one word? singlehood? singlecity? singleness? I know that it isn't "singularity" because that's something in math, and I don't remember anybody in a family gathering talking to be about math). Obviously, that's not the same thing.

In my family, that would ensure it never came up again.

In mine, it would ensure everybody trying to console me about it in the next decade or so.

[Edit: so even when people are nice, I can find something to whine about. Oh, well.]

So it took 2 hours from being picked to getting into the city, but it wasn't that bad. The first LIRR station we stopped at wasn't having any trains stop until after 9am, so we went further out and caught a 7:35 in. I even managed to get a seat.

It is a wee bit like a zombie movie (as a co-worker said yesterday) with easily 3 times the number of people on the sidewalk as I usually have to deal with and almost no cars on the roads. We crossed Broadway and Fifth avenue without the light and were in no danger of getting hit.

Safely in the office now with bagel and coffee. We are the only 3 in though.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ugh. I feel for you New Yorkers.

Someone remind me not to celebrate lack of headaches too soon, okay?

Compared to how long does it usually take?

Oh, ita. I hope that soon you wouldn't even feel the need to mention lack of headaches, because that would return to be your usual state.

(There's a part in the Jewish daily prayer where you ask for health, and you can insert names of people who need health-improvement, for a more specific "hey, Mr. G-d, can you please look after these people extra carefully?". I don't care how mushy it is, I mention your name in my prayer.)

compared to 40 minutes door to door normally for me.

Nilly makes me smile in the most English way.
