There's one passing reference to the fact that in some cases people are walking along roadsides with no sidewalks to get to the bus stop, but... I kept asking, "Why can't she walk?" I understand some people can't walk that far, and sometimes it's not safe, but they don't mention those things as factors.
Eh. I lived in a residential area in a suburb of Atlanta for a while, with very uncertain bus service. I'd walk the mile or so to where the grocery stores and stuff were, but it wasn't easy. And I'm a walker - I never even had a license until I was in my late 20s. It's not just no sidewalks - it honestly was walking on the very edge of a fast road or walking through uneven ditches. It was a bitch and a half.
