So they were there to report a crowding that - at the time - they were the ones creating?
All of the local TV stations have at least 3 hours of news coverage in the morning. They have to report on something.

They have to report on something.
Even if all they have to report is "we don't have anything to report at the moment", I guess.
[Edit: 3*4=5+7. They could report on that, perhaps?]
The CBC reporter said that today, the only Miracle on 34th St. he saw was a traffic jam at 4 AM.
{{NYC commuters}} What a mess.
Now I'm off to my own commute, which should be a deal less fraught.
One good thing from today. I will be home when UPS tries to delivery again (I missed yesterday).
Oh, and Bobby Cuza, transit beat reporter, is my new BFF.
I love that there is a transit beat reporter. His show is my favorite on NY1.
Segueing from commuting to local stuff, I’m still kinda reeling from yesterday’s Chalks crash. For a lot of people here the seaplane to the Bahamas is like a commuter flight. I see it got a lot of national press, but here it has left people in shock. The seaplanes never crash. The Chalks flights are always an adventure. They are incredibly noisy. They shake and sound so bad you are always convinced that they will fall apart before they take off. The only thing that got me through the short hop to the islands was the sure knowledge that somehow they always make it. The small private aircraft with weekend pilots go down all the damn time, but never Chalks.
There were all sorts of surfers, jet skiers, and boaters around that were instantly on the scene of the crash, but no survivors. It is odd that it is upsetting me as much as it is since I very rarely actually fly Chalks anymore, but it just isn’t supposed to happen.
