In case of a postal emergency, I'm well-stocked.I am not. At all. But I am very polite at the post office at least. Where I need to be heading today.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Today has been... not bad bad, but vaguely unsatisfactory in several different ways, and I think I would like a do over.
Who is in charge of such things this week?
See, I don't want do overs. I want skips.
Has anyone posted Rep. John Dingell's response to House Resolution 579 "Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the symbols and traditions of Christmas should be protected". It's classic:
Twas the week before Christmas and all through the House
No bills were passed ‘bout which Fox News could grouse;
Tax cuts for the wealthy were passed with great cheer,
So vacations in St. Barts soon would be near;
Katrina kids were nestled all snug in motel beds,
While visions of school and home danced in their heads;
In Iraq our soldiers needed supplies and a plan,
Plus nuclear weapons were being built in Iran;
Gas prices shot up, consumer confidence fell;
Americans feared we were on a fast track to…well…
Wait--- we need a distraction--- something divisive and wily;
A fabrication straight from the mouth of O’Reilly
We can pretend that Christmas is under attack
Hold a vote to save it--- then pat ourselves on the back;
Silent Night, First Noel, Away in the Manger
Wake up Congress, they’re in no danger!
This time of year we see Christmas every where we go,
From churches, to homes, to schools, and yes…even Costco;
What we have is an attempt to divide and destroy,
When this is the season to unite us with joy
At Christmas time we’re taught to unite,
We don’t need a made-up reason to fight
So on O’Reilly, on Hannity, on Coulter, and those right wing blogs;
You should just sit back, relax…have a few egg nogs!
‘Tis the holiday season: enjoy it a pinch
With all our real problems, do we honestly need another Grinch?
So to my friends and my colleagues I say with delight,
A merry Christmas to all,
and to Bill O’Reilly…Happy Holidays.
Even at the best of times, I hate the post office with a passion. My dad asked me to mail some stuff to him, and I blindly agreed...eventually. Instead, though, now I have to meet up with someone who turns out to be the big sister of someone I went to prep school with, so that her mother can take the stuff back to Jamaica. Not sure which is worse.
My insurance company is cool in that they care not about referrals. So far, they're most pissy about ER visits. Those they don't like, unless it was lifethreatening. I have yet to find out how they feel about ER visits to rule out stuff being lifethreatening.
We'll see, soon enough.

I've got less than two hours to go. If somebody resets today, I'll cry.
If somebody resets today, I'll cry
Okay, I'll take it back. no resetting allowed unless it's just for me.
How about fastforwarding to tomorrow?
How about fastforwarding to tomorrow?
Tomorrow's not looking great for me so far, actually. How about Wednesday?
I could use the extra time, myself. I would take anyone's Tuesday they want to ditch.
