I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

shrift, seriously. Turn in your notice and get the hell out of Dodge. Preferably westward.

From the "Or was that a rhetorical question?" files...

Why is so much of the production attached to the show, but directors aren't? Is it because the things we'd look for in a film direction are imposed over them, and their job is more transparent?

My guess is that it would be expensive and insanely difficult to hire a new crew, much less a new cast, for every episode. Bringing in different directors doesn't present any special challenges. And with the production schedule, a director can only make so much difference, so why bother? (I mean, I believe it would improve the final product, but I'm not sure it would improve it enough to justify the additional expense.)

I think it's also true that the auteur theory hasn't permeated TV culture the way it has movie culture. Probably because the writers are right there to defend their territory.

I don't actually have a lesbian lover.

And she's not a cowgirl either.

Are we writing a country song?

It could be the theme song for BIZARROBACK MOUNTAIN

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think your Christmas bonus should be the resignation notice you send them in response to the mandatory overtime notice. Complete with EAT IT! header.

Good call.

This recipe [link] is basically what I do, except I use canned corn, too -- the "crisp fresh niblets" or some shit. Also, for Christmas I'd use a red pepper and a green pepper.

Har!

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I'm not actually planning on working the amount of overtime they've specified, by the way. I think I'm coming down with something, I have another doctor's appointment, my car needs an oil change, and I need to finish a story.

What are they gonna do, fire me? If they do, I get unemployment!

Thanks for the recipe, Jesse! I'm looking for something easy to prepare.

As I understand it, Brokeback Mountain is only the first of a series of six movies. The next five feature gay Indians, gay Sailors, gay Policemen, gay Construction Workers, and finally just leather-wearing gays.

Mandatory overtime sucks, I'm sorry Shrift. Luckily, it has been a long time since I've had it. Putting in twelve hour days and not getting paid for four of them was not fun.

In real life when I make it, I make the dressing out of whatever's handy -- some combination of lime juice/lemon juice/vinegar, some oil, chili powder/hot sauce/something spicy. It's basically always good. You can also add quinoa or some other grain situation to make it more of a main dish.
