did you ever get this worked out?
No. I'm even engaged in a ranting exercise with their support staff who think it's reasonable to present me with a calendar of clickable dates that all lead to "Oh, not today...try another." When I just go ahead and plug the dates in I was thinking of, it tells me it's $800+. Flying to La Ceiba, OTOH, is $500. Do you remember if they have good boat service between the two?
I thought about my real estate purchases, but I can't think of those as spending but rather as investing.

not off hand but I could ask DH for you. He has been there and might remember. We flew from Tegucigalpa - Roatan - San Pedro, so I missed La Ceiba entirely.
I did find flights from Tegucigalpa to Roatan, and they're surprisingly expensive, but
less
than booking all at once. How silly.
I'd be really appreciative of your DH's input.
Paying a mover the last time I moved.
Hell yeah!! Expensive ($500 for my last move), but soooo worth it--just thinking about taking over 60 boxes down the two flights of stairs at my last apartment is making my back hurt.

45 boxes of books
30 boxes of costumes/fabric
and all my other stuff.
There is no question that I, as a single woman/hermit, could not have done it without the movers.
Joe doesn't remember regular ferry service to Roatan. We are both thinking it might be a long boat ride.
Joe's suggestion (and I think he's right although I don't think I would do this myself, if that makes any sense) is to just show up the morning you want to fly and buy a ticket. Based on our experience, neither of us think a reservation would guarantee you anything other than a seat on a plane at some point.
I'm going to talk to my FIL and get his thoughts. He has tons of contacts in Honduras and would know for sure the best way to get there and how much to pay.
Another idea - do you know where you are staying yet? It's a very small place and your hotel might know the best way to get there.
Best money I ever spent? I wouldn't have thought of this before reading msbelle's answer, b/c I was thinking of tangible/luxury things, but it's definitely therapy.
do you know where you are staying yet?
Not yet -- I'm still taking the pulse of things. I've looked at Roatan and Utila, and Roatan's a lot more expensive...but it seems less likely that I'll end up in a shack with a shared bathroom (don't mind shack,
do
mind shared bathroom). Some of the places are quite amazingly beautiful.
Thanks so much!
Paying a mover the last time I moved.
I'd probably have to go with Sophia here, as the movers spent 7 hours carrying 4 rooms full of stuff (including some pretty bulky furniture) down one flight of stairs and then up 2 in another state. At the time, lifting a 50 lb. TV up to the 3rd floor nearly put me in an ambulance, so they were quite literally lifesavers.
In terms of enjoyment, the $ I spent to attend PBP 1999 resulted in me meeting internet friends in person for the first time, becoming more invloved in fandom for years after, attending the single best party of my life, and discovering the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel all in a weekend.
