My stepbrother told me that the S1 recap ep they showed before S2 started got him to stick around and watch it, and he's now hooked, even though he hasn't seen any eps from S1 yet (I'm loaning him my DVDs next time I head down to Dad's).
Lost 2: Tied to a Tree in a Jungle of Mystery
[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
I saw an ad for the next new L&O:SVU - Malcolm David Kelley is guesting.
WTF are they doing all these fucking recaps?
Do they bother you?
They annoy me like those flashback episodes of Friends or Family Ties, because of the repackaging of old footage to make a "new" type episode. But I understand and sympathize with their goal of catching up new viewers, so I just choose not to watch them.
Except that this isn't airing in Lost's usual timeslot, and it's not taking the place of the regular episode -- it's in addition to it. As a way to bring in new viewers who might otherwise be intimidated by the extensive backstory, I think it's a great marketing idea.
Ah that doesn't bother me then. I get annoyed when it's in place of a new shiny episode.
yeah, actually they do bother me. I just don't see the point of them. It isn't like the show is struggling.
I don't mind it. And I think folks like my daughter appreciate it. She works every other Wednesday night, and while I try to remember to tape for her I forget sometimes. So, having a "recap" episode prior to a regular episode on a night she doesn't work, actually will be very good for her. Even if that's not who they're doing it for, or why, it works for us!
Also, the alert rabid viewer may get some hints at what the writers currently consider important to the storyline. Like, for instance, if the Rolex watch that Michael gave back to Jin gets focussed on, maybe that means we're going to get a Jin background ep....
I watched the last three episdoes of LosT earlier this week. odd how little I have to say about it.
