Right, Nora. And Daniel's speaking as a scientist -- and thinking of rules. It's difficult to know where the rules end and where the facts of what you can and can't change begin.

Cindy,
How old is Ben supposed to be? He hit the island at age 11. Is he really 50+? I thought he was supposed to be younger than that. Like he would have hit the island around now (mid- to late-70s) as an 11-year-old.
When Ben hit the island and gassed Dharma and went with Richard & the Hostiles, they lived in Dharma facilities. They took them over. It really wasn't Dharma any more.
I don't think the times and ages add up, but it would be REALLY cool if Ben were the baby that just got born.

But... we've seen him be born already! I am afraid I call shenanigans on that. More completely nonsensical than anything else.
Yeah, it's definitely not Ben. Or Charlotte. I can't figure out who it might be. It has to be someone important because that baby exists because of Sawyer and Juliet's intervention.
The Lostpedia theorists are kicking around Jacob (however, they think everything is Jacob.) A little theory a friend of mine is kicking around is that it's Ethan, and he gets kidnapped by the Others?
It may be more significant because it's the first/last/only (???) birth of a child conceived on the island, it might tie into that whole thing, it might change whatever weirdness was causing that.
I'm just talking here!
The baby is born in 1977, which would make him about 27 at the time the Lostaways landed. Ethan was older than that. And I would hope Jacob too. The best guess I have for someone that age is Alex's boyfriend, but he's not that important in the grand scheme of things.
HOWEVER. If the Island skips again, he could be any age that's required.
I think that the island has to skip again or SOMETHING in order for the people stuck in the 70s to meet up with (for example) Sun.

I think everyone from the plane, including Sun, Locke, the pilot etc., are in the 70s. When new guy with flashlight was going through papers in the Locke episode last week, he came across a Life magazine from the 70s. If I'm not mistaken, that's the only time-related island material that we see.

The camera pans around to the front of the statue to reveal...BEN'S FACE.
