Well, quite a lot of fuss. If I didn't know better, I'd think we were dangerous.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I'd assume Washed Up Pilot got on their radar when he called in about NotThePilot!Weiss. Assuming "they" are Dharma.

Seemed like the woman might already have been on the radar or working for them.

That leaves Weirdo Physicist and the Ghostbuster.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

That leaves Weirdo Physicist and the Ghostbuster.

I assumed that a Ghostbuster would be on their radar, too, just because he's a ghostbuster and therefore somewhat freaky.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Ha! I forgot about Desmond's time traveling.

I'm beginning to think the writers have as well.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Though I can't figure out why Daniel was crying in his flashback, when he saw the TV report with the "wreckage" of 815.

That's why I thought it was a flashforward. It felt like it had to be...wait a second. I think I'm still confused. When did they find the wreckage? These "flashbacks" are occurring when the Lostaways are already on the island, then? And this is what triggers the raid? And that was "wreckage" because we know that the front half of the plane ended up on the beach (which means there's no way they could even presume to have the pilot down there, who I forgot was Weiss...and that picture of Seth Norris didn't look like him, did it?)?

So, why was Daniel crying? And...what the hell is with the ghostbuster? (Dude, maybe HE can talk to Jacob!)

And why are they coming to get Ben now, after all this time?

Heh, I just called the number and listened to the recorded message.

I'm beginning to think the writers have as well.

I was going to add that, but the Matthew Fox interview in Entertainment Weekly leads me to believe differently.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

I think the writers have forgotten about the 'everything has a scientific explanation' thing.

That, I will believe. Ghosts?

What is even happening?

Was the wreckage under the water a whole plane? I was very confused, then got less so, then read through here and got more so.

Not javachik

Interesting literature speculation in Tim Goodman's blog's comments (riffing off the Kurtz reference):

[link]

Let me answer my own question. Digging back into my English lit stuff this other Conrad novel jumps out at me: "Lord Jim": About a ship thought lost at sea with all souls but later found and the scandal that arises from the crew having abandoned the passengers. The narrator of Lord Jim, a man named Marlow, also is the main character in "Heart of Darkness". So I expect a character named "Marlow" to show up any time now.

Also although Sawyer called Locke Kurtz the description might better fit Ben.

In the novel Kurtz refuses to leave and is "king" to the people of the settlement but not from the settlement. Ben is a Dharma person who betray the Dharma initiative and became leader of the others.

"Man, this onion just keeps getting larger!"

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The underwater wreckage was in pieces but it looked like an entire plane - cockpit, tail, bits in between. Which means it's fake or some other plane.

I'm thinking there may be different values of "scientific explanation" at play.

So...magnets, still?
