even her flashbacks showed her to be a totally paranoid bitch
I wonder what a flashback before her shooting would have shown. Unlike being denied an inheritance, I'd imagine it's a pivotal change-of-character potential-rich moment.
Not that it excuses her now, but I'm curious about how created a creature this brittle-shelled bitch is.
I think she's fun, myself. Maybe I wouldn't hang out with her, but I might consider letting her babysit my kids. As long as they were above suspicion.
I simply have no idea where the descriptor "paranoid" is coming from.
I don't disagree that she's been painted as an unlikeable character, but I just don't see that in her.
Besides, I don't care who you are, you always lose credibility in my book if you are also a murderer. I don't care if the guy shot you and killed your baby.
I'm not sure what this means. Credibility as a leader? I'm not sure I'd want her leading me around the jungle either (though I bet she'd be a lot better at it than I would be), just as I wouldn't want to be her best friend. But I think she's a compelling character, warts and all. Her bitchiness, her tomboyishness, her need for vengeance, her awful mistakes, her guilt, her pride... that's good TV.
What Kate P said.
Is Ana a nice person? No.
Is she an interesting character? Yes.
I care a lot more about the second question than I do about the first.
I simply have no idea where the descriptor "paranoid" is coming from.
I'd say she's paranoid only in as much as anybody who's had a run-in with the Others is "paranoid", or, say, the crew in THE THING. Can't say that Kurt Russell handled that situation any better than Ana Lucia has handled this one.
I don't have a character hate-on per se, but I find Michelle Rodriguez's performance kind of one-note. I know she hasn't had much chance to express any emotion than anger and guilt, but I dunno. It's like her face is frozen in "intense! And more intense!" mode. It makes me weary to watch her.

Wasn't she all flirty with Jack at the airport?
I'm loving hating Ana Lucia. She has spiced up the cast. Yay!
I think Ana Lucia is the tail section's Locke. She's someone you either totally get or totally don't. Since I missed last weeks episode, I still don't get her. I agree with those who say she's a paranoid bitch. This assessment is subject to change once I actually get my peepers on said episode, though. Let's hope it gets rerun between now and January.
This is one time I wish I was spoiled for Lost. I've been looking forward to finding out what Kate's crime was for so long that I fear that I will be disappointed. Please don't let it be lame. I really hope I'm not annoyed an hour from now.
