Maybe because his model as a leader is his father, the chief-surgeon?

I keep wondering why Jack, Sawyer, Sayid and Kate didn't take everyone back to the nice abandoned houses after the Others went on walkabout.
I keep wondering why no one suggested CUTTING THE CABLE. Wouldn't that shut off the hatch by removing the power source? Or am I not understanding how electricity works?
Heh. That looked more like a mooring line to me, like really heavy aircraft cable . A power cable in the ocean would have massive amounts of insulation on it. Of course either type of cable would be too heavy to drape over the outrigger on the boat, but I'll pretend not to know that.
Oh, and if it were a power cable and someone tried to cut it (especially with the tools they have on hand) that person would be well and truly fried. Possibly without actually cutting off the power.
Okay, so in the flashback where Charlie is playing "Wonderwall" in the rain, I really thought that we'd see Desmond in the background somewhere -- instead we see Charlie rescuing Nadia from a pursesnatcher. And I didn't recognize Nadia -- luckily people over at TWOP did. (Also apparently the blonde at the end of the episode is played by Tracy Middendorfer who was "City of".)
Oh, that was Nadia? Huh!
sumi, I saw Tracy Middendorf's name in the credits and was waiting the whole episode to see her.
Thanks for the explanation, aurelia.

I figured it had to be Nadia, because otherwise, why not have just some regular English chick?
I didn't recognize Tracy, though before she was in "City of" she was Brenda's craxy competition for Maggie the Cat on 90210.
Tracy's been on a ton of things i watch.
I was pretty sure it was Nadia, but she did look different. i'm glad Andrea is still asked to come back because she's one of the nicest actors i've ever met. someone who dances to Love Shack with a group of fans is A-Okay in my book.
I've danced with a Firefly actor to Love Shack. (Yes, it was a man, too).

Heh! I'm pretty sure it has been stated it's an electric cable on the show this season, too.
Still enjoying Lost. Lots going on, bits being explained, lots of build up to the finale. Hopefully it doesn't all implode on itself this time.
Is next weeks episode the finale?
Yes -- two hours worth and then tonight after GA they have some show with the producers or something.
Am I the only one looking forward to the finale? The only thing I'm a bit worried about is them all waking up in Toyko at the end.
