We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so very pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die.

Lost 2: Tied to a Tree in a Jungle of Mystery

[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Clearly, Helicopter!Girl was sent by Penny.

This is my take as well. My kittens are also on the writers using Helicopter!Girl to let everyone know they are aware how ridiculous the show has gotten as the LOSTies exposition her up to speed.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I love reading this thread without watching the eps. It's so much more entertaining!

Our wings are not tired.

You might try watching without audio. Some of the visuals were fun.

What is even happening?

Often, I read the thread first, then watch the episode. It's like a game.

Totally. As are reading the TWOP re-caps without watching the episode. It saves me so much frustration. (To quote a wise man: "Just stop watching and the pain will go away. I promise.")

Cindy is me! Woo hoo! I haven't watched last weeks ep yet, let alone this week but I always read the thread first. While I watch, I get to go "ohhhh" a lot, and laugh. In many ways, it enhances the experience for me so I don't go all Elvis on the TV and shoot it in frustration.

Edit: I can't stop watching though - as much as I wish I could. It's a show the DH still loves and he gets all pissy if I don't watch it with him on Saturday evenings.

And Dawn, you're me. I think I've found my zen about it. Lost is (to me) mostly about a bunch of pretty people wandering around looking for a cohesive plot.

That's it exactly! With rain. I just quietly snicker at the remembered snark.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Nice Lost ep description/commentary here:

[link]

I’ve long contended that the writers of Lost use the show as the world’s most expensive message board, employing its very text to address fan concerns and critiques, often in the body of the same story that’s causing consternation. Apparently some of the writers have been known to blog, and executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse conduct regular podcasts on ABC’s website where they clear the air, but I’ve never quite seen the point. When you watch Lost you almost always have a pretty good idea of where everyone stands.

To wit, Lost doesn’t just name check the pop culture phenomena that has inspired and co-exists with it (most recently evident in the episode where Sawyer has to go around being nice to everyone or else he’ll be “voted off the island”). Occasionally, it seems to step outside of itself and offer reassuring nods to its viewership—no doubt one of the most savvy audience in all of television—that it has at least anticipated their eventual complaints. Arguably, that’s not quite as impressive when you consider how many corners the show has written itself into over the years, but they do say admitting you have a problem is the first step.

Compassionately intolerant

Okay, this is bugging the crap out of me.

Who is the older, Irish actress with white hair. She's been in everything...oh lawd...what is her name? Not Finola...Fiona something?

Anyway, what is she doing in the photo on Big!Brother's desk? Has she appeared in a past episodes playing someone's mum or granny?
