The runner collapsed practically at the feet of Jack & Kate and it was Michael.

Thanks, Jon!
Stoopit local station. Well, par for the course, really. Big-ass bugs over the important clue at the bottom of the screen. Running a "tornado warning" crawl and shrinking the screen and doing the beep-beep-beep delicate dialog interruptus. Stoopit local station.
This was a really sweet ep, Jack/Kate nonwithstanding. I love Rose and Bernard, and count me as also surprised that they were newlyweds!
(And a HUGE kudos to both actors for being able to pull off a Jin/Bernard scene without making me shout OMGGAVINANDHOLLANDARETALKINGTOEACHOTHER!!)
Hee, Jessica, I didn't even think of that at all! In fact, what I was thinking through the whole episode was, this dude is Bernard. I don't see anyone else there at all. One of the few actors I don't automatically think of a different role they've played when I see them.

Heh. That didn't ping me either. But DDK has totally become Jin to me now.
Loved Bernard and Rose. Loved loved loved Rose's "We both know it won't take that long, don't we?" to Locke, especially with the reveal of the airport encounter at the end.
And it may be just me, but I like Jack. I'd get caught in a net with him anytime.
Sweet episode. Rose and Bernard have so much more chemistry than Kate and Jack!
But why was everyone against Bernard's idea to make a huge sign? Seemed like a good idea to me.
It surprised me that no one mentioned the fact that a plane *had* flown over, to drop the food, so it's clear *someone* knows they're there (or at least knows that someone is on the island). Yet, no rescue. I thought that would have occurred to Bernard.
I don't think they were against the idea, so much as the huge amount of work involved. Especially with him saying "You guys go haul these heavy rocks half a mile while I trace these letters in the sand."
ETA: Nora, you're right. Sayid and Charlie were working on something together when Ana Lucia recruited them to go look for the baloon. It wasn't mentioned what and we haven't seen any work on it since.
Plus Rose really did undermine him. Most of them know her better than they know Bernard and if she was going to walk away, then that would likely put doubt in their mind. Add the heavy labor and ta-da...

Oh, that never pinged me either until right now, and I think it's because of what Amy said.
Occasionally, when Bernard is looking really grubby and unfit, I compare him to my mental image of Holland, and when he was flashing back to meeting Rose, he looked more Hollandy (which made me happy). But I never give one thought to DDK being Gavin, any more.
