Anya: It's lovely! I wish it was mine! Oh like you weren't all thinking the same thing. Giles: I'm fairly certain I wasn't.

That had to simplify keeping kosher considerably.

Well, it certainly complicates things, now. At the time, it was just the simple lack of most of the dairy products (or their relatively high prices), so almost all the food was made with meat/chicken. My grandfather could never grasp the notion of a dairy meal.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I'm a fan of DKNY hosiery, ita. Feels good, looks good, lasts a long time.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Victoria's Secret has some pretty shimmering thigh highs. You looking for full-hose?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Probably not what ita has in mind: Plush Cthulhu slippers

These plush Cthulhu slippers can keep your feet warm even as they damn them to a thousand nameless hells.

BTW, you've read [Linked], right?

No, but I went to a talk of his and got a headache. It was easier when the physics types restricted themselves to studying the distant universe, kept their mathy bits to themselves, and left the study of people to us lesser beings.

Hey Rick, my whole family is whack. You want em?

Everyone's family is whack, so really, no shortage of subjects.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Whoo! Work let me through to VS. Must remember that back door. Which sounds wrong.

I wonder if those tights are too sparkly, though. I have a couple pairs of grey hose and they are like insta-ashy FX. I still wear them because I'm lazy.

Allyson -- thanks for reminding me. I used to wear DKNY tights, but never tried their sheerer stuff.

Thanks, tommy, but I've already bought the shoes. Maybe for the next festive occasion.

Everyone's family is whack

Mine's whacker. I swear.

The book is much more on the popular science side, so I think you'll be OK. I gave it as a present for several people who know nothing about physics, and they liked it, too.

left the study of people to us lesser beings.

The quote I had at the beginning of my Masters' thesis (about traffic flow), from "Alice in Wonderland":

"I don't think they play at all fairly," Alice began, in rather a complaining tone, "and they all quarrel so dreadfully one can't hear oneself speak and they don't seem to have any rules in particular; at least, if there are, nobody attends to them -- and you've no idea how confusing it is all the things being alive..."

Everyone's family is whack

Then who's the control group?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Oooooh, those Chthulu slippers are great! Bet they're warm, too.

I'm glad you had a good birthday(s), amych!

Allyson, you clearly have the best shopping-fu.

Sometime this week I'll have to go get an outfit for holiday parties. The whole impending layoffs thing at the office is really making me disinclined to spend money, though.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

My TV Guide said that ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT and KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL were on tonight, and the KC was the Michael Vartan one.

Anyone got confirmation of this?

TiVo agrees with that, Frank. My fingers are crossed.

Why aren't people posting more? Don't make me post links, folks. Don't make me do it.
