Well, good thing your dad is a good man.

True 'nuff. But I'm supposed to be crazy and lack a sense of self-preservation. I'd never do all that. It's textbook get yourself robbed/assaulted setup.

It is! And it isn't. I think most people tend to be good and a "crime epidemic" of people who are carjacking nice airport-driving people is less an epidemic and the epidemic of fear caused by those stories.
Would you have stopped, lent a strange man your cellphone, gotten out of the car to talk to him, and then invited him into your car and driven him around? Would you have yelled at me if I'd done it.
Tangential factors include a) he's black, and b) it was raining. Which don't add directly to the risk factors, but I think make it less likely that the good samaritanness would happen.
I mean, I've gotten into strangers' cars a time or two, but I knew I was treading dangerously.
I have stopped and lent strange men my cell phone when I saw them broken down on the freeway. For whatever it's worth, they were black and it wasn't raining.
I wouldn't have offered them (or any other stranger) rides, though.
sure. I'd stop and let someone use my phone. If I noticed, which I'm not especially good at doing.
I've stopped to help people and their car stuff. Changed someone's tire once. Not that I'm a good samaritan, but I hate when I'm at the side of the road and no one stops for me.
Steph, that dress did make me think of you.
Because I'm sassy! And fancy!
