Anya: It's lovely! I wish it was mine! Oh like you weren't all thinking the same thing. Giles: I'm fairly certain I wasn't.

move out and draw fire

Subjectively, I was away from the computer between asking Nilly about the book and her response, but I don't think it was an hour. I think those posts happened together.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Ah, new thread. Where we really find out if life begins at Natter 40.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Whoo--in before 100--something of a record for me.

We're running off to the mountains for today, so I'm sure there'll be umpty-leven posts by the time I get back. Just getting in one post before I leave.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Gronk. I should not be up yet. There is much more sleeping to be done, but my stomach was rumbling like a mac truck so I tried to appease it with oatmeal, which blew up in the microwave. The cooking time on the box is a big fat lie.

I've gone to yoga (despite protesting legs) and gone out to the food store to bring back delicious things, so if nothing else is accomplished, the day is not a waste. Also it is 60 degrees out right now.

Our wings are not tired.

Nice Natter title! Hi all!

I have achieved internet. We now have a big ass generator at the house contributed by one of my customers. It plugs in to the dryer outlet and powers the whole house. Still no internet there. But hot showers!!! Whee! My siblings have power so I have their generator at the office where we have internet. No A/C, but computers and the possibility of working to meet deadlines that don’t care about the weather.

Life revolves around dealing with essentials. Some gas stations are popping up again. Some food stores are open, but not so much for fresh meat or veggies. They did have bananas so that was nice. We have had plenty of fresh bottled water and food all along. Yay for peanut butter! Still under boil water orders. Thankfully it has been cool so we haven’t been too sweaty. It is maybe 80ish today, so not bad.

We didn’t get much rain so we don’t have the horrible flooding like the Gulf coast did. It’s a huge area though. Something like 150 miles of the east coast trashed down here. The constant drone of generators is giving me a bit of a headache. I still have MIL staying with us. People have been wonderful helping out each other and sharing resources. The big exception being my Evil SIL. Would you believe they got power back 2 hours after purchasing a generator and she refused to let us use it for the office!?! Bitch. Of course her husband apologized for her evilness and offered it to use, but we wouldn’t take it now. DH was shocked, me not so much.

Don’t know about school. They have 172 schools in the county and about half have power. It’s a high priority, second after emergency facilities. I don’t see how they can run buses when so many streets need to be cleared and there are so few traffic lights working. We'll see.

It looks like fall in northern areas because the leaves were blown off so many trees. It’s odd. We are still enjoying the starry starry nights without the glow of city lights.

Laura! Good to 'see' you again

t /not here

t Yup, I can 'see' people online even when I'm not here.

t It's an ocean away, and the not being right-here is what bothering about the 'seeing'?

(OK, next time I have a dicsussion in my head about whether to post something or not, I should keep it in my head. Especially since, well, not being here and all.)

Ooh, Laura! Good to hear that things are getting liveable again. I guess I shouldn't complain about the snow we had yesterday, huh?
