Is "Cyclops" in singular or plural form?
(My brother is translating something, the opinions regarding the one/many are not conclusive, and he needs to know. So he sent me an e-mail: "Ask your buddies at your forum. They'll probably know". And I never even told him about the hivemind!)
[Edit: oh, 8 is twice 4 and 6 is twice 3. It's like my post # can't decide about plural or singular itself. How meta.]
Cyclops is singular -- plural is (iirc) cyclopes.
What exactly is the point of those things, anyway?
The Big Gulp is one of those cold war programs that have outlived their original purpose.
Reagan said there was a Gulp Gap with the Soviet Union: their "5-Year" Gulp was providing nearly 50% more refreshment than our largest Gulps.
Many years and several billion dollars later, we finally have the biggest Gulp, but the Soviet Union is no more. The truly insane thing is that they still went ahead with the Double Gulp program.
Shit, I just thought it was ice.
Then I suppose the lesson for the day is, keep the lid firmly attached to the Big Gulp. Or protest in favor of degulpament treaties.
The really scary thing are all those unlidded Big Gulps in the former Soviet Union. Just image if someone spilled one in a major U.S. city.
