Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I've given up hope on Vampire People. I know it's still floating around various smaller houses, but I just don't have any more heartbreak left in me so I took a deep breath and started work on the next book.

The hardest part of it right now is that my mom (of course) bragged to the whole family about her genius daughter and her smart and funny book and how she got an agent so quickly...and now relatives are calling to ask me where/when they can buy it.

Which leaves me explaining over and over that it hasn't sold and probably won't sell. By now, I should be numb to it. But I'm not.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

My weekend: The good: Got to see bunches of people on Saturday, especially JZ, had fun. Gingerberead pancakes. Lush. Good food at Deb's. Saw Kat. Dutch Baby. meeting Kat's friend M., who is cool. Gray's anatomy. Got a good start on one long term project. Got a lot of CDs burned, and had fun with play lists. Made some real headway on the house cleaning stuff.

The bad: In pain because of my neck and back for large portion of weekend. Left party much too early. Between pain and needing to get stuff done, didn't get to see Steph nearly enough, which SUCKS. Didn't quite finish my to do list. Had a GA dream, which proved I would be a really bad doctor.

What about other people?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My GA dreams prove I'd be a bad girlfriend. I blame it on Dr. Yang.

Weekend good: Acupuncturist. Got two errands run.

Weekend bad: Head stuff. Nutritionist expensive and not for me. Terse with people who didn't deserve it, even slightly.

Because books.

I took a deep breath and started work on the next book.

Sometimes, that's what you have to do. And then, later, when you have something else out, an editor or agent will say, "What else do you have in a box under the bed?" And there Vampire People will be, ready to go.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Allyson, just because someone hasn't bought it yet, doesn't mean they won't. Maybe there will be a bunch of articles on the cover of newsmagazines profiling fandom. Then someone at some house goes, "Oh shit! Didn't we see a manuscript on that? Call the girl with the pretty hair RIGHT NOW!!!" Besides, moving on to something else will be good for a while.

On a completely unrelated topic- HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHIKAT!

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I just did a vanity google and there's someone else with my name. And they live in Jamaica! Good thing I locked that gmail up.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I took a deep breath and started work on the next book.

Keep moving forward but don't ever give up hope. It's good and I'm sure the next one will be, too.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Weekend good: seeing friends, getting rid of bookshelves, getting power strips, cleaning house, getting replacement airport ordered, church, getting music to a friend, playing board games, loverly weather.

Weekend bad: not enough sleep, no cooking or baking, biting nails, not finishing book for tonight's bookclub.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

getting replacement airport ordered

Are you replacing LaGuardia or JFK?

Weekend Good: Cleaning out massive amounts of crap from bedroom closet and hallway cupboards. Hanging out with Kristin and Debet. Finding a second carseat on sooper sale at Target. New slipcovers!

Weekend Bad: Getting sick.
