Natter 40: The Nice One
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Has California tired of him? Have there been any recent opinion polls?
His numbers are way down. He made the mistake of trying to gain political leverage by slamming teachers and nurses. That didn't play at all. Plus, he's played the usual power-grab and fundraising whoredom. So he doesn't really look like the alternative to politics-as-usual that he promised.
Oh, and I understand his wife dodged supporting him on these votes.
Oh yeah. Maria was having none of it. Not that I like her much more, but she was not campaigning on these, and it was clear there had probably been A Talk on the matter.
On the bright side I don't think it's a poisonous variety. But I could see its mandibles distinctly from six feet away after I jumped out of my chair.
Technically, they're all poisonous, unlike snakes. But most aren't dangerous to humans. You're right, though, there are spiders whose venom is no great concern but you'll still notice a bite.
Fortunately, most spiders are also not very aggressive. With two particularly noteworthy exceptions, the Brazilian wandering spider and the Sydney funnelweb. So the two most venomous also have relatively short fuses. (Especially the wandering spider.)
Anyway, you've Febrezed it now. You'll know it's coming by that new house smell.
Thanks, Nilly! I had a mini-'sode this morning (no actual unconsciouness) but I'm trying some dietary changes and am already feeling much better. (I also have a doctor's appointment on Friday, just in case.)
It's good to read that you're taking care of yourself.

So it wasn't as bad as last time, right? Dietry changes usually take some time to affect, but at least it seems like it's the right direction.
(I feel like such a Jewish mom when I'm posting things like that. I always want to open them with an "OK, I'm going to be a Jewish-mommy for a second here...". Only, in Israel, since most moms are Jewish, we call it "Polish mom". And then we have to explain how it shouldn't have anything to do with the question of where your mother lived before coming to Israel.)
It was general weak and woozyness that seemed to hit me suddenly. Since it's been suggested, by several people, that it could be "blood" related (blood pressure, blood sugar, anemia, etc.), I did some research, followed by some mega grocery shopping. A good meal, followed by a nap, has me feeling more alert and together than I have since the initial 'sode. (It could totally be mind over matter but I'll take it any way I can get it.)
I am, however, working from home for the next two days, just in case. (I don't want to drive too much until I have a better handle on what's going on.) And then I'm off for nineteen days! Wheeeeeeee!
It could totally be mind over matter but I'll take it any way I can get it.
Yeah, well, as long as it works, right?
And then I'm off for nineteen days!
Oh, where did you decide to go, eventually? Also, yay!
Gah. While watching Supernatural another centipede went racing across the floor. Not cool. The last one was big enough that I
heard
it when it fell off the wall.
I'm not really going anywhere. (I can't afford a true vacation.) But it's a quiet time at the office so I thought I'd hang around at home, reorganize my closet, work on some writing stuff. My goal for the nineteen days is to, at least, get an outline for one of my ideas done. (The original thought was a first draft but that's just crazy talk. That can be my goal for December.)

Gah. That's beyond not cool.
The last one was big enough that I heard it when it fell off the wall.
Ouch. I hope they both will go away together.
I'm not really going anywhere.
Frankly, it sounds like a wonderful vacation plan, in my opinion - get some rest, some things that never-get-done out of the way, and do things you enjoy and want, like the writing. Sometines all you have to do in order to have a wonderful time is just to be home.
Whenever I say that the best plan I have in mind for a vacation day is to cuddle in bed with a good book and not fall asleep after the first couple of pages, a jigsaw puzzle or just hang around with friends, I get a few responses of "but don't you want to do something? to go somewhere?". And sometimes, I definitely do, but there's also charm and fun to be had in other things, at least to me.
Yes, exactly. And, honestly, thanks to the class that I'm taking, I'm so excited about all these things I want to write that spending money on a trip to Bora Bora or Vienna or wherever would be a waste. I'd probably spend the entire trip inside my room, working. Trixie and I can work just as well at the Bean for several hundred dollars less a day.
Bora Bora and the stack of books can happen next year.
ETA: And speaking of resting...I totally need to go to bed. Night!
