I will never understand people that push the elevator button repeatedly, as if the force their exerting on button will be somehow pumped into the elevator mechanism and cause it to move faster.

I'm late to the elevator button discussion, but want to mention that all animals seem to do this. Not push elevator buttons, of course, but something parallel.

For instance, if you put a button in a pigeon's cage, and always light the button just before you feed the pigeon, the pigeon will start to peck the button over and over, even though pecking the button will not speed up the delivery of food. There is something hard-wired in all of us about interacting with things that predict food or sex or escape, even when that interaction does nothing to increase the chances of food or sex or escape.

Do you sometimes push the button and think "Mmm. That felt good. Let me push it ... mmmm. Still feels goo...mmmm." That happens to me sometimes.

Pigeons will work for the chance to push the button, even when pushing the button has no effect, so psychologists infer that it feels good to the pigeon. So in this case pigeons=ita.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

That's pretty much my plan, Beth, with a Hell NO on 73, but I still need to figure out 78 and 79.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Fart. I was gonna vote this weekend, and I haven't yet. (I'm permanent absentee.) And I'm feeling very lazy.

Bad Suela.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So in this case pigeons=ita.

Except my meat is talkier. No need to infer.

For the record -- metal buttons are more fun. NY traffic buttons rock, as do the square elevator buttons.

Okay, I need to make a Prison Break icon, and then off to bed.

I never got the Prison break love. Wentworth is very pretty, but I couldn't get into the show.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It's got a nice Boy's Own adventure serial feel to it. Cliffhanger every week that reminds me of old Alias. Big plotting that doesn't go quite smoothly, fantastical wheels within wheels.

And Wentworth Miller has plot-dictated shirtlessness.

Hmm. Maybe I will have to catch up in reruns.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I need to hit something.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Hey -- interesting article passed on by an English friend of mine: Where have all the goats gone?

(work-safe and also cruelty-free, it's about charity goats through an organization not unlike Heifer.org)

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So, Yahoo reports that CBS and NBC will feature individual episodes that people can "buy." But instead of going through itunes or other means so that people can download the program, they are offering this through directtv. I think it is nonsensical. They would have a WHOLE lot more $$ if they tossed it on their websites a week or so after the show aired.
