"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Last year here in town, we had a pack of three rottweilers--they were owned by a doctor--escape their yard and kill a woman. It's certainly tragic but it shows what a thin veneer of domestication there really is with animals.

My cousin had a rottweiler for years (she died recently), and although generally a sweet-tempered dog, she did have a tendency to snap at people unexpectedly and then act contrite afterwards. Once that behavior showed up my cousin had to be very careful about not letting other people try to pet her.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

tommy, sadly I was wondering where the nightmare part was ... but then I got to gun in cheek bit. Do you want krav lessons? First one's free.

Heh. Yeah, I was thinking in the dream that if I knew krav I could have taken the guy's gun away, as he was just some kid without training.

Every so often I have dreams like this. I often wonder in the dream if I should just be passive and hope the guy isn't crazy enough to shoot me, or if I should attack and take the chance of getting shot that way. Often I do attack. Once I killed a guy with a big screwdriver (as I knew he was going to shoot me in a few minutes) by shoving it up under his chin into his brain. That was scary and icky.

I also just found out that I have to find a new place and move before the end of the month.

Good luck with that.

Do you want krav lessons? First one's free.

It's also lots and lots of fun.

I've been looking at some programs for going to Israel cheaply next summer. There are a bunch of volunteer programs that look cool, but most of them require more Hebrew fluency than I have.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Hi Nilly! I never get to post with you anymore! Yesterday Mr. Jane and I went to see Good Night, and Good Luck, and there was a preview for a movie from Isreal called "The Guests" and I thought of you.

Belated ((((Jilli)))))). Our landlady and next door neighbor lost both of her longtime kitty companions...Much healing to you and Pete.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but while I was in Houston, I had the strangest dream after falling asleep to Hellraiser. I got in the elevator with coworkers, and there was already a man in there. When the door closed he went all big red slimey satan demon, and was all, "I'M GOING TO RIP YOU TO SHREDS."- blah blah sliceyouupcakes. Since we were on a teeny elevator with no sharp objects or anything, I looked at him as if he were deeply stupid and asked "With what"

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

MY mom can't do the sarcastic voice. The two of you should hang out and confuse people together.

That would be awesome! I still regret not seeing you when you were here.

How much more? Is there anywhere around you where you could improve your Hebrew?

Wow, it made its way to the USA? That's great! It's so, well, Jewish may be the word that I'm looking for, practicing-Judaism-orthodoxly sort of Jewish, that I'm really curious what would anyone who isn't familiar with that way of living may think about it.

It was one of the biggest successes of the Israeli film industry last year. The main actor won the Israeli film prize for his acting in this movie. Also, it ended up being my most tried-to-see-it-and-failed attempts movies. I think I tried to watch it maybe half a dozen times, including one when my roommate brought its DVD, watched it on my DVD player in my absence, and had to return it before I could ever even watch a second of it. But I still plan to.
